BLOG: What’s Inside My Makeup Kit?

We all have our own everyday makeup routine. It depends on how classy, simple, or arrogant you are to match the kind of makeup you want to wear everyday. There are girls who love to wear heavy makeup to hide spots (we really need to hide them or they will look bad in the pictures — we don’t like that, do we?) or girls who just feel like showing off their newly purchased highlighters and matte lipsticks. There are also girls who love to keep it simple — powder, tint, and eyebrow pencil are enough. There is nothing wrong with both for makeup is an art and it really depends on how confident you are to show off your beautiful face in the public.

The kind of makeup a girl purchases actually depends on her skin type. If she has oily skin, then she needs to have makeup that would not make her face look more oily. If she has dry skin, she needs something that would make her face look fresh and moisturized. There are also girls who are blessed with fair and insensitive skin and they are most probably the girls who look gorgeous regardless of what kind of makeup they may be wearing. I, on the other hand, have a very sensitive skin. I need to be extra careful with choosing what kind of makeup I’m gonna have to put on my face — most especially the moisturizer and the foundation/bb cream.

Makeups weren’t my thing back then. But ever since I stepped into college and being surrounded with girls who actually are good-looking and blooming makes me want to try it to. There’s nothing wrong with putting makeup on in school for as long as you DO NOT put too much of it! You don’t want to look like a clown or being asked if you’re attending a party, right? Makeup is art but it also needs to be learned.

People usually ask me, “What’s inside your makeup kit?” I always bring it to school and having a big makeup kit really makes them curious. There’s nothing much, really. I only know a few about makeups. Don’t even start with brushes because I admit I really do not know how and where to use them. But to answer the question, here it is:

There are 12 things inside my makeup kit but I only consider 9 as the most important. These are what I usually use everyday.

1. Céleteque Facial Moisturizer (Hydration)

There are three kinds. The Acne Solution, the Suncare, and the Hydration (which is what I am using). Before putting anything else on, this is what I apply first. It is a long-lasting relief from skin dryness. It provides the skin with optimum hydration without the greasy after-feel. It makes my face feel moisturized even after hours of non-stop walks.

2. L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream

I am using the “light” shade. It matches with my skintone and makes my face look naturally flawless. I use this to hide dark spots and pimples (whenever I have some) and to make my skin look radiant. It blends well on the skin and is easy to apply. It is also best for sensitive skin and is best for travelling and everyday use.

3. Etude House Drawing Eyebrow (Shade 2)

I love this product so much! At a very affordable price, I can finally show off my on-fleek brows. This is so easy to use and its triangular pencil shape is best for arch eyebrows. What I love about this product is that it is so handy and is waterproof!

4. Maybelline Fashion Brow Palette (Dark Brown)

It hasn’t been a week since I’ve started using this product but it really is a good one! I bought it for only 250php because it was on sale and I fell in love with the color. It consists of one gel and two powders and I just love how the three blend with each other. Another use is for applying a nose line — either you want a dark or light one, it will still have a perfect outcome. The first one (left) is used for framing or shaping your brows. The middle can be used for nose line and is also perfect for filling in to have a nice eyebrow look. The last one can be used for highlighting.

5. Johnson’s Compact Powder (White)

Again, I have a very sensitive skin and the only powder that does not give me breakouts is this one. It is mild and very smooth on the skin and I just love how it blends well with my BB cream. It is refillable and very handy. I started using this at the age of 15 and for 3 straight years, I can already say that this is really what completes my makeup essentials. I also use foundations but I still prefer this over it.

6. KJM Cheek & Lip Tint (Bloodshot)

My personal fave! I first heard about this through social media. I am a big fan of Sofia Andres and her best friend, Elisse Joson. Who doesn’t love their OOTDs, eh? I’ve always been curious about what kind of tint these two are using because even if they go swimming or workout, their cheeks and lips are still pinkish and fresh. I was desperate for this one and later found out that it is not sold just anywhere in the country. It is exclusive in Davao and if you want to buy, you need to order online. But I guess luck is on my side. Thank God for Emporium Cebu who exclusively sells this product! I’ve never been contented with any other makeup essentials than this. It is long-lasting and it is why I really love it! This is a must-have.

7. Eyelash Curler

Don’t tell me you don’t have this inside your kit. Majority of makeup lovers have this one listed as a priority. Who doesn’t love long and curly lashes?

8. Clinique High Impact Waterproof Mascara

Thanks Mom for this one. I also consider this as one of my faves since it is long-lasting and it adds the perfect drama I want to have with my lashes. It has thick liquid and resists smudging and flaking. It dries immediately making you feel comfortable and contented. It is also best for girls who have sensitive eyes and those that have short lashes. This is the perfect one for you. I would definitely recommend this product.

9. Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner (01 Black)

No, I do not apply this everyday. I only use this for special occasions and school events. If you are ever one of those people who hates liquid eyeliners (like me) then I would highly recommend this product. Unlike liquid eyeliner, this one dries off immediately since it is a gel and matte eyeliner. It is smooth, clean, smudge-proof, waterproof and long-lasting. And if you also happen to be obsessed with wing eyeliner (again, like me), this will give you the perfect shape. You can easily find this on Watsons with a very affordable price.

So that’s it! If you have a sensitive skin like mine then I think this blog will help you out in purchasing different makeup essentials. Blend everything and you will look just as simple as you wanted your makeup to be. I just love everything that is inside my makeup kit and it somehow makes me feel girly. Maybe sooner or later, I will then have to post more about makeups — all about the REAL makeup set with eyeshadows and all that. Thanks for reading and may you enjoy putting makeup and experimenting products!
